Adam Lefkoe: The Reason Why I Want to Have a Podcast of My Own

Ever since I was young, one of my biggest dreams was to play professional football for the Baltimore Ravens or play professional baseball for the Baltimore Orioles. I have now realized that that dream may just stay as a dream. However, that realization has not stopped me from continuing my general love for sports. I have always felt comfortable in a sports atmosphere. I have always been able to have an intelligent conversation with any sports fan that is willing to chat. I have been going to football and baseball games for as long as I can remember. I think that is what made me feel so comfortable. Being around sports fans that are constantly giving their opinions will make you want to learn as much as possible about sports so you can fit in and be able to contribute to the discussions. As I got older, I felt like I wanted to pursue a career in sports. I felt like, since I have been around sports my whole life, why stop now?

I discovered talk radio, more specifically sports talk radio, in high school. These people are getting paid to go on air and talk about sports. That would be perfect for me. One of the things I heard most growing up was that you will not have to work a day in your life if you love the job you are doing. That saying really stuck with me throughout high school and still motivates me today.

The person who I try to model my work around the most is Adam Lefkoe, a sports journalist at Bleacher Report and co-host of the Simms and Lefkoe podcast. The reason why I was so drawn to him and his work is because he is a normal sports fan. He is down to earth and can really relate with his listeners. He doesn't give too many hot takes but makes his audience grasp onto what he is saying because most if the time what he is saying is intelligent. However, he doesn't know everything about the sport and I think that is what makes him so relatable. He does his research on the sport and communicates very well with is co-host, Chris Simms.

Lefkoe began as a film intern at NFL Films right after college before moving to Louisville, Kentucky to become a sports anchor for a local news station. His journey from small town sports reporter to a major sports outlet like Bleacher Report is very inspirational because it shows me that as long as you have enough determination, you can accomplish anything you want.
