My Top 5 News Sources

ESPN

This website allows for easy access to anything sports related. The toolbar at the top of the site categorizes by sport. Along with the toolbar, there is a list of the most recent games that have been played and the scores to those games. As a sports fan, you want that type of information to be the first thing you see. As you scroll down, there are links to important things surrounding the sports world.

Bleacher Report

Much like ESPN, the Bleacher Report website has a toolbar at the top that has links to different sports as well as links to the things that are trending, tickets, and their magazine. The way that Bleacher Report differentiates from ESPN is that they are more reader-friendly. Bleacher Report does more reporting on stories about players or surrounding a team or specific sport, whereas ESPN is more focused on the facts and stat lines.

The Athletic

The Athletic is a site that looks a lot like the typical news site. The first header that is on the site is "Premium National Coverage". If you scroll down a bit from there, the second header is "Extensive Local Coverage". The way that they have their site laid out is more conventional. The motive of The Athletic is to set a "new standard for sports journalism" according to their site. This most likely means that they are going to begin to move away from writing stories about stuff that does not really have to do with reporting about sports news, and get back to the things that are more important.

The New York Times

The New York Times website is where I go to find stories about news outside of sports. The classic layout of the website allows readers to see exactly what they want to see. There are multiple links on their toolbar at the top that cover all different types of topics. In addition to the toolbar, the site also gives quick access to the stocks and weather in your area. Aside from the links at the top, the site covers the most important news from around the globe.

Twitter

Although it is primarily a social media site, Twitter is probably the news source I go to the most. It is easy to access news while just scrolling down your timeline as well as using the search button. Obviously, the more credible news outlets you follow, the more news you will see. So many people and news networks use Twitter nowadays. Just about everyone in the younger generation uses Twitter in some form, so it would be to the disadvantage to a news outlet to not use Twitter. Even our President uses Twitter to spread important news updates.
